Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid 21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island" - reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones. Lincoln makes a daring escape with a beautiful fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Relentlessly pursued by the forces of the sinister institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers
From the IMDB

Wow, what can I say about this movie. When this project started I was not too impressed, as time went on, I was even less impressed. But, it did answer the age-old question: Why do producers NOT want the public watching the filming? Not that it gives the plot away, not because they are afraid of interruptions, (there are plenty of people around to avoid that.) Because what you see, is not what you see, and you think you see what you will not see on the big screen. I was fortunate enough to monitor the film while Michael Bay and company were shooting in Rhyolite. On the big screen, the shot of Rhyolite was phenomenal. Props were placed where they would not disturb the ruins; in fact, the town was better after they left, then when they originally found it for the movie. You can go to the Cook Bank update to see the work they completed on the bank bringing her back to her original grandeur. Dreamworks also did some shooting at the Barrick Bullfrog Mine property at the foot of the hill, and the Cinder Block Mine a few miles out of Beatty. In total they were in this area about 3 days
